Provide a DW consultant to a large financial institution to redesign core Data Warehouse database with
20 file groups and 38 database-files to efficiently handle 2.7 Terabytes of data and 3 Gigabytes of daily
data-growth on Oracle 9i. Play lead role to remove database fragmentation, restructuring indices,
stored-procedure optimization, and regular performance monitoring & system tuning. Simultaneously support
dozens of development teams and review project plans and database designs with multiple project-leaders and
their teams. Work with multiple business & technology managers to develop business requirements and to
analyze/model current and proposed business process flows for their data-marts. Responsible for performance
monitoring and query optimization for multiple Data Warehouse & middleware servers.
Hold meetings with business users to determine requirements and risk models. Customize the data model to meet
client specific requirements and risk models. Analyze operational systems and processes to determine gaps.
Keep servers compliant to Auditing as per client's fundamental Auditing requirements. Review and assess existing
data processing methods and techniques. Revise existing systems and procedures to correct deficiencies and
maintain more effective data handling, conversion, import/export, input/output requirements, and storage.
Eliminate data redundancy and provide single sources of data while maintaining an enterprise-wide perspective
Create and manage primary objects such as tables, views, triggers, and indexes. Work with development teams,
system analysts to ensure data-integrity, normalization as well as maintenance of database-structure changes.
Develop Data Marts and Data Warehouses. Develop and maintain the Metadata repository. Prototype elements,
processes, and systems. Mentor development team-members to make use of best practices.
